ASFINAG AND MOWEA HARVEST WIND POWER AT THE EUROPE BRIDGE
"As a mobility partner and infrastructure operator, ASFINAG has all the levers in its hands to make tomorrow's mobility demand-driven, customer-oriented and sustainable. We are happy to partner with MOVEAIR and are convinced that it is an important contribution to use existing infrastructures, like ours, for alternative forms of energy."
Dietmar Harbauer, Senior Expert Electromechanical Engineering at ASFiNAG Alpenstraßen GmbH
ASFINAG is an Austrian infrastructure company and is responsible for the Austrian freeway and expressway network with a route length of around 2,250 kilometers, including more than 5,500 bridges. ASFINAG was founded in 1982 and is a federal government company. In order to achieve its climate targets, ASFiNAG has its own climate and environmental protection program, which is based on the four cornerstones of mobility strategy, energy strategy, circular economy and biodiversity.
The wind power generation project at the Europabrücke was created as part of the "Verbund X Accelerator", a programme founded in 2020 that aims to create innovation, long-term business relationships and address challenges of the future through collaboration between leading European companies and start-ups.

The pilot project initially comprises 8 micro wind turbines on the Europabrücke bridge, which were installed at a height of 140 meters above the ground. From now on, eight wind turbines will generate around 6,000 kWh of energy per year - saving around 2,016 tons of CO₂ annually. The turbines supply energy to cover the primary energy requirements of the facilities at the Patsch toll station. The implementation of this project has several advantages: No additional infrastructure or soil sealing is required. The necessary power lines are already in place along the highway, and the wind turbines can be elegantly integrated into the piers without disturbing local residents or residential areas. The wind turbine installed by MOVEAIR is the first commercial wind turbine ever installed in Tyrol.
GERMAN ENERGY AGENCY (DENA)
The German Energy Agency (dena) is a competence center for applied energy transition and climate protection. dena looks at the challenges of a climate-neutral society and supports the German government in achieving its energy and climate policy goals. Since it was founded in 2000, the agency has been developing solutions, putting them into practice and bringing together partners from politics, business, science and all parts of society - both nationally and internationally. dena is a project company and a federally owned public enterprise. Its shareholders are the Federal Republic of Germany and the KfW Banking Group.
GERMAN ENERGY SOLUTIONS INITIATIVE
With the aim of positioning German technologies and know-how worldwide, the German Energy Solutions Initiative of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Action (BMWK) supports suppliers of climate-friendly energy solu-tions in opening up foreign markets. The focus lies on renewable energies, energy efficiency, smart grids and stor-age, as well as technologies such as power-to-gas and fuel cells. Aimed in particular at small and medium-sized enterprises, the German Energy Solutions Initiative supports participants through measures to prepare market entry as well as to prospect, develop and secure new markets.

RENEWABLE ENERGY SOLUTIONS PROGRAMME (RES PROGRAMME)
With the RES program, the Energy Export Initiative of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) supports German companies in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sector in opening up new sales markets. As part of the program, reference plants are set up in a target market and marketed with the support of the German Energy Agency (dena) for publicity and advertising purposes. Information dissemination and training activities promote the sustainability of market entry and demonstrate the quality of climate-friendly technologies from Germany.
This project is supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action as part of the Renewable Energy Solutions Programme of the German Energy Solutions Initiative.
